La Influencia, director Denis Rovira's debut feature film, will premiere on June 21 in theaters across Spain. It is a production by Nadie es perfecto and Recording Movies, with the participation of RTVE. David Ciurana is co-producer of the film for Recording Movies.
La Influencia is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Ramsey Campbell. Starring Emma Suárez, Manuela Vellés, and Maggie Civantos, it is a suspenseful horror story about the weight of family ties.
In La influencia, Alicia returns to the sinister mansion she fled as a child—a home that has never been a place of happy childhoods—now a young mother. Accompanied by her husband and nine-year-old daughter, Nora, Alicia seeks to rebuild her life while being forced to confront a past she thought was buried and a body that refuses to die: that of Victoria, the possessive matriarch of the family, who has fallen into a deep coma and survives connected to a machine, and for whom little Nora feels an unhealthy fascination.
